Led migration from a heavily customized legacy theme to Shopify 2.0 for a high-traffic sunglasses brand, preserving all existing features and dramatically improving performance.
The Challenge
Shady Rays had years of accumulated customizations on their legacy theme architecture — custom product filtering, specialized checkout flows, and a complex mobile experience. A straightforward theme switch was not possible; every feature had to be inventoried, understood, and rebuilt in the Shopify 2.0 environment.
The Solution
Created a comprehensive feature inventory before touching any code. Rebuilt the entire store on Shopify 2.0 JSON templates with AJAX filtering that persisted state in localStorage. Added social proof sections with real-time purchase feeds, a gift card preview section, and a build-your-bundle feature with dynamic multi-product pricing. Prioritized mobile-first rebuild with thumb-friendly navigation and swipeable galleries.
