Project Overview
Engineered a bi-directional product and order sync connector for 10,000+ products without a single rate limit error.
The Challenge
A multi-brand retailer needed bi-directional sync between Shopify stores and an external system. Shopify's API rate limits made bulk operations extremely fragile — previous attempts resulted in failed syncs and data inconsistency.
The Solution
Architected a Prisma-backed queue system with AWS ECS workers, per-page batching, adaptive rate limiting (p-limit), retry/backoff strategies, and idempotent webhook deduplication. Used Shopify Bulk Operations API for initial loads.
Results Achieved
10,000+ products synced bi-directionally across stores
Zero API rate limit violations through adaptive throttling
Idempotent webhook handling eliminated duplicate processing
SQS + ECS workers handled 50+ webhook events per minute
Prisma-backed queue ensured zero data loss on failures
